We adopted a bird!  We’ve been thinking about getting another pet since our cat, Fatty died in April and the new pet came in the unexpected form of a type of parrot called a Sun Conure.

We never thought we would own a bird but from the moment we met this little guy, we wanted him to be a part of our family.  He just feels right.

It took us a while to come up with a name.  When my husband suggested Percy, it just fit!  So Percy it is!  Or Percy Bird as we’ve been calling him.  He is sweet, friendly and so smart.  He even does a few tricks like turning around in a circle and bobbing his head on command.

Since we have never owned a bird before, we have been learning a lot in the days since we brought him home.  I’ll be doing a post about bird care at some point in the future.  There are so many things to consider when caring for a bird.  Its hard to believe something so small needs so many things!  He seems to be settling in well and feeling right at home in our house.  We’re starting to become more attuned to his needs and wants which I’m told will become easier in the future. It’s been pretty crazy with the dog, cat and bird in the house but we love it!
